I'm sure we've all run into obviously mistaken beliefs. At times, we all hold some ourselves. We may not have even known for sure why, but something didn't seem right; some piece of the puzzle was missing.
None of us can pretend to hold all the cards of truth in our hands. The articles linked here are a collection of issues that we have found to be critical in setting believers free from bad theology. Anyone can see there is a huge gap between the ways of the world and the ways of the Kingdom. We believe these studies will help bridge the gap.
Think Hebrew! -- If we don't bother to understand the basic mindset behind the culture of the Old Testament, we can hardly expect to understand the writers who lived in that culture, nor the books of the Old Testament they wrote from that culture. Here we examine briefly the contrast between East and West.
The World through Christian Eyes -- The Christian mindset is directly descended from that of the Hebrew. Failing to make that connection guarantees we will not be able to distinguish between worldly pagan ideas and those of Jesus.
Locating Heaven, Part 1 -- Ed reacts to a query from Charles regarding a teaching about Heaven. In the process, terms that have been abused are redefined according to Scripture.
Locating Heaven, Part 2 -- A very plausible concept of Heaven is explored from the limited viewpoint of Western logic.
Locating Heaven, Epilogue -- Our cultural blindness can steal from us the greatest gifts God has provided. (Reference is made to off-site materials.)
Grace is Unknowable -- If we attempt to bring a full logical resolution to all theology, we will bump into serious problems. We risk building a merely man-made thology
Denominations -- Our Christian denominations are very important tools for the work of sharing the message of Jesus Christ, but they are no more than tools.
Prosperity Gospel Heresy -- God calls some people to be poor, disabled, and weak. His power is made manifest in human weakness.
Comparing Texts: A Sample -- A small sample of New Testament verses compared between the KJV and NASB to show how the latter has a bias against the deity of Christ.
Western Civilization Is not Christian -- We assume too often our own ways are ordained of God. We see through eyes far distant from the eyes of Jesus, and our assumptions are quite different from His. To truly understand His teaching, we must regain the mind of the ancient Jew.
